Sometimes outfits can make or break the look of a session. Sometimes. Most of the time we're focused on the little one's outfits, or the mom's outfits, and soommeettiimmeess dad's outfits are the last we think about. Well I'm here to mix up that train of thought. I believe that the first thing we should think about is the vibe. Do we want whimsical beach, or surfer beach vibes? Do we want dreamy forest, or adventure forest vibes? Or maybe we want a gothic punk session, alternative and different.
While most of the times I say no to baseball caps, I think they totally fit the vibe if we've got a surfer family, or for a family that loves to skateboard!
o1. Think about what vibe you're after. Are we going for the beach, forest, mountain, grassy meadow, or home session.
02. Think comfortability!! No one wants to be uncomfortable during their session! Breathable and moisture-wicking fabrics: Performance, tech, or linen fabrics are perfect.
o3. Find Well-fitted clothes: Try to find options that fit well while still being easy to move around in comfortability.
o4. Don't forget to lint roll!
o5. You don't need to all match exactly the same! My style is not for everyone to stand in a straight line, everyone all looking the same, and all looking at the camera. My style is free-spirited, running around, touching little bean toes. So match in similar colors, but let's not play twins-ies.
o1. If you're not going for a skater family/surfer family vibe, I'd skip the baseball cap! Instead think of tweed bakerboy/newsboy caps if you really want a hat.
02. Basketball shoes - Again depends on the vibes, but if your lady is in a gorgeous dress, and you have a nice outfit, your basketball shoes will be the first thing everyone notices! Why? Because it doesn't fit with the rest of the image. Try boots, oxfords, or creepers. Sneakers are okay too! If we're going to the beach, just go barefoot!
o3. Don't wear t-shirts with big logos, or words on them. Shirts with super distracting designs also sometimes aren't flattering.
o4. Unless it's really your vibe, or around the holidays, dont go with those buffalo plaid shirts.
There are all kinds of color themes to go with for your photo session, so I've decided to help with making color matching less stressful!
